Haydock card in doubt

18/01/2007 - 10:37:37
Haydock will hold an 8am inspection on Friday to determine their chances of racing on Saturday.

The ground is officially heavy at present and some areas of the track are waterlogged after substantial overnight rain.

However, clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright has not given up hope of the meeting, set to feature the Grade Two Peter Marsh Chase, going ahead.

“We had 25 millimetres of rain last night and bits of the track are waterlogged so we couldn’t have raced today,” said Tellwright.

“We have a couple of days though and if that was the last of the rain, there’s a chance it could improve. It is forecast to be dry by lunchtime and to stay that way. We do have some strong winds which could help so there is a chance.”
