Celtic set to clinch Brown deal

Celtic are expected to clinch the signing of Inverness goalkeeper Mark Brown today.

The 25-year-old had been linked with Falkirk but now looks set to join Gordon Strachan’s team after the Glasgow giants launched a surprise bid.

Inverness manager Charlie Christie told the Daily Express: “It’s very difficult when Rangers or Celtic come in for a player and when Mark got an opportunity like this we felt it would have been wrong to stand in his way.

“Mark is one of the top goalkeepers in Scotland behind Craig Gordon and I know he was determined to try and enhance his international career, and I am sure moving to Celtic will help him to do that.

“It’s a great loss to Inverness but Mark now has to do what is best for him and his family.”

Celtic last night allowed David Marshall to join Norwich on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who has been capped twice by Scotland, had found his route to the Parkhead first team blocked by Poland international Artur Boruc.

The same is likely to apply to Brown, a former Rangers player, initially, and his arrival casts doubt on the long-term future of Marshall at the club.
