Second FG TD backs Deasy on leadership challenge
05/01/2007 - 07:41:22A second Fine Gael TD has come out in favour of a leadership challenge if Enda Kenny fails to lead the party into government at the next election.
Yesterday, the party attempted to play down similar remarks by Waterford TD John Deasy, portraying him as a radical and a maverick.
However, Meath TD Damien English is quoted this morning as saying that he agrees with Mr Deasy and believes the leadership should change hands if Fine Gael does not get into power this year.
Mr English also says there is wider dissatisfaction among Fine Gael TDs and Senators over the current leadership.
