Schoolgirl remanded in burglary case
A 16-year-old schoolgirl, who burgled an elderly woman’s home and stole her handbag containing her bank and medical insurance cards, has been remanded on continuing bail pending sentence by the Dublin Children’s Court.
The girl, who is originally from Romania, had pleaded guilty to the burglary which took place at Beech Park Road, in Cabinteely, Dublin, on April 13 last.
She had failed to attend her sentence hearing in September and had not attended appointments with her probation officer.
Judge David Anderson remanded her on continuing bail until February 16 to allow a pre-sentence probation report on her to be obtained.
Garda Aidan Ivors, of Cabinteely station, had earlier said she “entered the house without permission, of an elderly lady. She took a wallet and purse containing her bank cards and VHI cards.”
He said the value of the stolen property was €150 and the woman’s belongings were recovered soon after wards.
The girl, who is at school, had no previous convictions.
