Greens seek environmentally-friendly focus in new NDP
05/01/2007 - 07:42:08The Green Party is calling on the Government to focus more on the environment in the new National Development Plan (NDP).
Details of the €75bn capital expenditure programme for 2007 to 2013 are due to be revealed later this month.
The Greens want the Government to focus on alternative energy in the spending plan and also to invest more in environmentally friendly infrastructure.
They say this is necessary to help Ireland reduce carbon emissions and avoid massive financial penalties under the Kyoto Protocol on climate change.
