Another wonderfully observed ensemble piece – and what an ensemble – from director Altman as several stories weave themselves in and around the coming together of a group of musicians for an all-star C&W radio show … that of the film’s title.
Such shows and such radio stations dot the map of the US of A and for those who have never heard them at first-hand Altman delivers the atmosphere and the colourful characters to your cinema seat.
The playing is top quality – look at the cast list: how could it be otherwise – and the film is a gem.
