British minister slams Ryanair attitude to climate change
05/01/2007 - 07:40:03Britain's Environment Minister has launched a scathing attack on Ryanair over its policies on climate change.
The criticism is contained in a newspaper interview in which Ian Pearson slams the attitude airlines across the world have adopted in relation to carbon emissions.
He describes Ryanair as "the irresponsible face of capitalism".
Last year, the chief executive of the Irish airline, Michael O'Leary, slammed calls to introduce new taxes on airlines in an effort to reduce harmful emissions.
Mr Pearson is accusing him of taking pride in his refusal to recognise that climate change is a genuine problem.
