Two thirds of SSIA-holders intend to keep saving when their accounts mature this year, according to Irish Life and Permanent.

Fifty-seven per cent of the special saving accounts are due to reach maturity this April.

Irish Life and Permanent says its research has found that the scheme appears to be encouraging the savings habit in many people.

It says around two thirds of account holders intend to keep saving their funds, with 40% of these considering putting money into pensions.
