'Stunning' £1m takings for Liberty
29/12/2006 - 08:51:21London's Regent Street retailer Liberty today said it took almost £1m (€1.49m) from shoppers over two days of a “stunning” Christmas season.
Liberty said sales for the festive period were 6% higher than 2005 as demand surged for luxury fashion accessories, as well as jewellery and fragrances.
Trading picked up “dramatically” during the first week in December, leading to Liberty’s highest ever normal day’s sales. It said that over two consecutive days takings totalled almost £1m (€1.49m).
Chief executive Iain Renwick said: “I believe this stunning performance reflects customer response to Liberty’s very distinct offer.”
The sales boost came despite trading from 20% less space than last year.
