Solzen pencilled in for Sandown
My Way De Solzen appears likely to continue his Cheltenham build-up with an outing in the Sodexho Prestige Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown on Saturday.
The Grade Two contest was re-opened following the five-day entry stage, but Alan King’s Ladbrokes World Hurdle winner was one of the initial acceptors and the trainer is hoping to run.
A top-drawer staying hurdler, the six-year-old bolted up on his chasing debut at Lingfield last week and connections hope he will develop into a live Irish Independent Arkle Trophy contender.
King, who took the Cheltenham contest with Voy Por Ustedes last term, saw his charge trimmed into 7-1 clear favourite from 8s for the two-mile event with William Hill on Monday.
The trainer said: “He is entered at Sandown and I would like to think he will run.
“It is only a few days since he ran but as long as he pleases in his work midweek and I am happy with him then I think he will take up his entry and we will see if he is an Arkle horse.
“The softer the ground the more likely he is to run.”
