No away-day blues for Reyna
Claudio Reyna has insisted Manchester City can approach Wednesday’s Premiership trip to Aston Villa with confidence even though the Blues have collected just one away point this season.
Saturday’s unlucky defeat to Liverpool was their sixth out of seven games on the road.
So far, the only time Stuart Pearce’s men have avoided defeat was at Everton, and even then they required an injury-time goal from Micah Richards to grab a draw.
In fact, City have not won an away game of any description since they beat Villa last April.
The run has undermined City’s impressive form at Eastlands – where they have yet to lose – and has left them just six points above the drop zone.
Yet Reyna believes the Blues have not received adequate reward for their efforts and is confident they can break their poor run at Villa Park.
“We have had a few games on the road where we could have got something,” he reflected.
“There is never a good loss but the manner of our performance at Liverpool can give us confidence ahead of a few difficult away games.
“Everyone is looking forward to Villa because we only have a few days rather than sitting on the Liverpool defeat for a week.”
