Lenihan rules out site change for new children’s hospital

27/11/2006 - 14:00:47
Minister for Children Brian Lenihan has insisted that the location for the proposed new national children's hospital will not be reviewed.

The facility is due to be built alongside the Mater in north Dublin, but reports this morning say Crumlin Children's Hospital is seeking a review of the decision.

The Crumlin board reportedly believes the Mater site is too small and wants the new hospital built on a greenfield site instead.

Asked about the matter in Dublin today, Mr Lenihan said, if there were issues surrounding transport and access, they would have to be resolved.

However, he said the decision on the location of the hospital was final and would not be changed.
