27/11/2006 - 12:04:42
An inquest into the death of Co Cork teenager Sheola Keaney has heard that she died from manual strangulation.

The 19-year-old's body was found in Cobh last July two days after she had disappeared without a trace.

Detective Garda Tom O’Halloran opened the inquest today by describing how he found her remains hidden in plastic bags on a laneway in the Newtown area of the town.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster later confirmed that the cause of the 19-year-old's death was asphyxiation due to manual strangulation.
