Labour: Dublin commute times unacceptable

The Labour Party has hit out at the Government for not doing enough to provide funding for the key area of transport in the forthcoming budget.

At their pre-budget seminar in Dublin today, the party has urged the Government to invest significantly in infrastructure.

According to Party Spokesperson on Finance Joan Burton, commuting times in Ireland have become unacceptable.

“The Taoiseach, when he was opening an event, two years ago in Blanchardstown, talked about Blanchardstown and Lucan being 20 minutes from the GPO,” she said.

“We're saying to the Taoiseach - listen it's actually 111 minutes - even if you're using public transport and the so-called quality bus corridors.”
