25/11/2006 - 17:10:11
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to three separate road accidents which claimed four lives this morning.

The accidents happened in counties Carlow, Cork and Kildare - bringing to 332 the number of people killed on our roads so far this year.

The latest accident happened in Co Carlow on the main Bunclody to Tullow road, when two cars travelling in opposite directions collided.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, and three women travelling in the second car were rushed to Kilkenny Hospital, where one of them has since died.

It comes just hours after a 43-year-old man was hit by a taxi on the Ballyhooley Road in Cork.

He also died in hospital a short time later.

And in County Kildare, a man in his early 20s died this morning after his car crashed on the Ballymany Road at 3.30am.
