Gowran to inspect again

24/11/2006 - 10:05:32
Racing at Gowran Park must pass a further inspection in the morning ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

Although the course came through a 9am inspection today, officials are going to have another look at 7am tomorrow because of the prospect of more rain.

Conditions are currently described as heavy at the Irish venue, and with more rain forecast today and tomorrow, the team have decided to have another look in the morning.

Cliff Noone of the Turf Club said: “They inspected the course this morning and they have passed it fit for racing but there is a serious weather forecast for later today and tonight.

“Because of that they have decided to hold a further course inspection at 7am tomorrow.

“It is currently raceable, although the ground is heavy, but they are mighty concerned as there is apparently a lot of rain up the east coast.

“They can’t take a whole lot more but they’re giving it a chance and will obviously make a final decision at 7am tomorrow.”
