NI: Man in court over shop assistant murder
A Nigerian man appeared in court today accused of murdering a shop assistant found dead at her home.
Grace Moore, 38, of Belfast, is understood to have been stabbed to death.
The body of the victim, who worked in a city centre department store, was discovered by a daughter at her house in Erris Grove on west Belfast’s Suffolk Estate on Saturday.
As Christoph Aluya, 23, stood in the dock at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today, a detective sergeant from the serious crime branch told magistrate Fiona Bagnall he could connect him with the charge.
Aluya, of Church Road, Carlow, is understood to be from Nigeria originally.
His lawyer Peter Ford told the court he denied the charge and would be applying for High Court bail.
Aluya was remanded in custody to appear again by video link on December 21.
