Government considering benefit for cohabiting couples
23/11/2006 - 08:57:43Cohabiting couples could be in line to benefit from a range of measures being considered by the Government.
Tax, inheritance, and social welfare benefits are up for discussion at a Cabinet meeting scheduled for next week.
The working group on domestic partnership recommends a scheme for couples living together which would automatically give them legal recognition after a certain period of time.
The Cabinet is also likely to consider ways to provide greater recognition for same sex couples.
