Peas top music awards
22/11/2006 - 13:33:53Black Eyed Peas have topped the 2006 American Music Awards in Los Angeles winning in three categories.
The group won favourite group twice, in the rap/hip-hop and soul/rhythm & blues categories, and won favourite rap/hip-hop album for Monkey Business.
In a satellite link from Costa Rica, the Black Eyed Peas frontman, will.i.am, thanked fans and artists "for keeping hip-hop progressive and pushing it forward".
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kelly Clarkson and Mary J Blige were amongst those who took two awards each. Mariah Carey, who did not attend despite being nominated for three awards, missed out completely.
