Dublin City Council has unveiled plans to spend €2.2bn next year.

The budget will be presented to elected members of the council in City Hall next Monday.

Average annual bin charges are set to rise by €11 to €231 next year.

A total of €2bn will be spent on housing over the next three years, including 1,100 new affordable homes due to begin construction next year.

Two new purpose-built crèches and a Family Resource Centre will open in the north inner city in 2007.

About €58m of capital investment will be spent on sport and leisure centres, including Ballyfermot which will be completed next year, and Crumlin and Rathmines which will begin over the next three years.

And €31m will be spent on upgrading city parks.

An additional €1m will see all branches of libraries open six days a week.

An extra €1.25m will be added to the €33m the council spends on cleaning the city's streets.

The new plans will also mean that 10,000 more homes will get a brown bin for kitchen and garden waste.
