Average Irish lunch break down to just 38 minutes

21/11/2006 - 12:11:15
The pressure of work is making a proper lunch break a thing of the past, according to a recent study.

A survey of workers in this country and in the UK reveals that our lunch breaks are getting shorter, due to heavy workloads.

The average lunch break here is now just 38 minutes long and more than a third of us now say we are too busy to take a full hour for lunch, and one-in-five of us can't spare the time for a break every day.

However, we're better off than workers in the UK who take a shorter average lunch break of just 28 minutes every day.

The report also shows that our lunches are getting healthier, and sandwiches and baguettes are still our favourite thing to eat.
