ITV turns down NTL merger
21/11/2006 - 12:53:38ITV today rejected a merger proposal from cable company NTL just days after BSkyB took a stake in the broadcaster.
The move by BSkyB put Rupert Murdoch at loggerheads with Richard Branson, NTL’s largest shareholder, as the battle for control of ITV heated up.
However, ITV said today there was “little, if any, strategic logic for ITV to combine with NTL” in a deal which could have been worth around £4.68bn (€693.5bn).
