Little overall change for ISEQ
The ISEQ index slipped slightly today, shedding 2.89 points to 8805.87 by close of business.
The financials suffered a poor session of trading, with Bank of Ireland enjoying the only gain of the day, up 3c to €16.06. Competitors Anglo Irish Bank (down 10c to €14.27) and Allied Irish Bank (down 5c to €21.68) did not fare as well, with Irish Life & Permanent sliding a full 31c to €19.49.
The biggest loss of the day was endured by Icon, who slumped €1.09 to €29.18.
Elsewhere, Paddy Power had better days, falling 27c to €15.32. The food and drink sector performed poorly, with C&C Group and IAWS, both dropping 10c to €11.72 and €18.64 respectively.
Aer Lingus’ decline continued, dropping 2c to €2.73, with rival Ryanair shedding 3c to €9.78.
There was good news elsewhere however, with CRH up 20c to €28.80. FBD climbed 17c to €40.57. Elan and Irish Continental Group both gained 10c to €11.40 and €13 respectively.
