Hanafin warns young people about dangers on roads
19/11/2006 - 14:30:18The Minister for Education Mary Hanafin today warned young people to take road safety seriously.
Today is World Remembrance of Road Traffic Victims Day. Services are being held around the country to remember those killed in road accidents.
More than 21,000 people have been killed on Irish roads in the last 45 years.
She said today is an appropriate time for people “to be wary and alert” to the potential dangers on our roads.
Minister Hanafin said young people in particular must take more responsibility and warned against the risks of speeding and substance abuse when behind the wheel.
