Eircom staff to profit by €1bn from privatisation

Eircom staff will receive more than €1bn in payouts coming from the privatisation of the company in the next few years.

This year, Christmas staff payouts total €80m, with 10,000 members of the Employee Share Ownership Trust receiving €8,000 each.

Members have received €36,500 each since 2002.

However, analysts are warning of financial strain arising from Eircom's €425m debt.
