Irish group departs to build homes for South African poor

17/11/2006 - 08:48:00
350 people are flying out from Dublin this morning to build houses for the homeless in South Africa.

The volunteers, most of whom are builders, are taking part in the annual Niall Mellon Townships Initiative.

The block-built houses, with running water and electricity, will be handed over to families currently living in shacks built from scrap wood and metal.
