Harney: BreastCheck roll-out will take up to two years
17/11/2006 - 07:54:07Minister for Health Mary Harney has admitted that it will take up to two years to complete the planned national roll-out of the BreastCheck programme.
The expansion of the breast cancer screening scheme is due to begin in the spring, when it will be extended to the south and west of the country.
€8m was allocated to the roll-out in yesterday's budget estimates.
However, Ms Harney said the expansion would not happen overnight as it takes time to recruit and train staff and to put other resources in place.
