Landsdowne last hurrah for Ireland

15/11/2006 - 19:11:47
Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton afforded the fans the courtesy of naming his team yesterday for the Euro 2008 qualifier with San Marino at Lansdowne Road.

Staunton made three changes to the side that was involved in a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic five weeks ago.

Reading striker Kevin Doyle and Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given returned from injury, with Manchester City centre-back Richard Dunne back in the side after serving a one-match ban.

Another sell-out crowd was expected for the final football international at the dilapidated Dublin stadium before work starts next year on the £260million, 50,000-seater venue to be erected in its place.
