Hopes high for Obligation
15/11/2006 - 16:45:53David Pipe has high hopes for recent Cheltenham novice chase winner Standin Obligation.
The David Johnson-owned seven-year-old has nine wins from 11 starts to his name under Rules and is unbeaten over the larger obstacles after making all at Prestbury Park.
“It was cosy in the end,” the trainer said.
“He had won two very small novice chases in the summer, but he jumped brilliantly which is what we liked about him and he is very accurate and very quick over his fences and he put in a perfect display of jumping around Cheltenham.
“It was only a small field and it wouldn’t have been the perfect way to ride him but we had to do that on this occasion,” Pipe told At The Races.
“He was 153 over hurdles and we are hoping he can go right to the top over fences.”
