15/11/2006 - 07:47:18
Waterford Wedgwood’s interim results, released this morning, show a return to positive earnings, with operating profit of €4.9m for the six months to September 30, compared to a loss of €69.4m for the same period last year.

However, sales were down 1.6% year on year, from €358.1m to €352.5m.

Group CEO Peter Cameron said: “Our unwavering focus on reducing our cost base and on contemporising our brands has put Waterford Wedgwood on the road to recovery.

“I am particularly gratified by strong sales of Waterford Crystal in the USA, our most important market. In September, for example, sales of Waterford in that market were 22% up year on year.”
