Moyes praises Everton display
David Moyes calmed down enough to hail 10-man Everton’s defiant display before their cruel Carling Cup exit to a late Arsenal goal.
Emmanuel Adebayor finally sent the Gunners, who fielded a second-string side at Goodison Park last night, into the quarter-finals with a headed winner six minutes from time.
Everton boss Moyes had seen his Scottish striker James McFadden sent off as early as the 18th minute, for foul and abusive language, by controversial referee Graham Poll.
Moyes said: “Our 10 men put in a fantastic display but the goal was a killer so late, and it was soft, too. We allowed them to score with a header on the six-yard line.
“A goal like that makes me sick to the stomach. We fought so hard and kept going right to the end.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger left without commenting to the media for the second game in succession following his rumpus with West Ham boss Alan Pardew last weekend.
