Paddy primed for Cheltenham return
Scottish Grand National winner Run For Paddy is on target for the Grade Three Servo Computer Services Trophy Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.
Rookie trainer Carl Llewellyn has his string in fine form at present and a handful of his stable stars are engaged to run at the Open meeting.
But with conditions currently described as good at Prestbury Park, the former jockey may not risk the likes of Roll Along and Too Forward.
There are no such worries for Run For Paddy though as he enjoyed his career highlight at Ayr on good ground.
“Run For Paddy does go on faster ground so I would have no worries. He will work tomorrow and if he works well he will probably run,” said Llewellyn.
The 10-year-old reappeared at Wincanton last month and finished fourth behind Tanterari under a welter burden of 11st 12lb.
“It was a good comeback at Wincanton with all that weight,” reasoned Llewellyn. “He gave 1st 11lb to the winner so it was a very good run.”
Novice hurdler Roll Along went into plenty of notebooks with his impressive performance at Cheltenham’s first meeting of the season and holds an entry in the Grade Two Anglo Irish Private Banking Novices’ Hurdle at the Gloucestershire venue.
Llewellyn is instead favouring a Class Two novice at Uttoxeter on Saturday for the unbeaten six-year-old.
“With the ground looking like it is at present, unless we had some rain I think Roll Along will run at Uttoxeter on Saturday instead,” said Llewellyn.
“He’s had no problems since his win at Cheltenham. He has come out of it well and everything is okay.”
