Free-kick makes Eastwood's day
07/11/2006 - 22:12:47Southend hero Freddy Eastwood had no regrets about sending Manchester United, the club he supports, crashing out of the Carling Cup.
The holders succumbed to a marvellous curling 27th-minute free-kick from Eastwood and then could find no way to break Southend’s stern resistance.
“I am a Man U fan and to play them was unbelievable,” said Eastwood, whose team are bottom of the Coca-Cola Championship.
“Cup games are hard and obviously they found that out tonight.
“I wanted to take it (the free-kick). I fancied my chances and as soon as I hit it I knew it was in.”
Eastwood told Sky Sports: “We are not doing great this season but it shows what a good side we are.”
