Convey to miss clash with Spurs

07/11/2006 - 17:12:29
Reading’s Bobby Convey has been ruled out of the Premiership clash with Tottenham at the weekend.

The United States winger has been out with a knee injury but, after returning againstPortsmouth, is again sidelined.

Convey, who was due to move to White Hart Lane from DC United in the summer of 2003 only for the transfer to be scrapped when his work permit application was refused, misses the visit of Spurs on Saturday.

Reading skipper Graeme Murty is close to recovery from a hamstring injury and is in contention to take on Martin Jol’s side.

Physio Jon Fearn told www.readingfc.co.uk, “Boby suffered some bone bruising in his knee three or four weeks ago in training, he had some rest and came back for the Portsmouth game but was still feeling discomfort, so we’ve pulled him out to let it all settle down.

“He’s gone back to America for a few days and won’t be available for this weekend’s game against Spurs.

“Murts has done some more high intensity work and come through it well. If all goes to plan he may join full training later this week, and we’re hopeful that he’ll be available against Tottenham.”
