Primary teachers seek significant increase in budget funding
07/11/2006 - 10:28:24Primary teachers are seeking increased funding to meet school costs and resources to help reduce class sizes in this year's budget.
In its pre-budget submission, the Irish National Teachers Organisation says many schools won't be able to pay for heating, electricity, water and waste charges without a significant increase in funds.
It also says resources to help reduce class sizes are long overdue.
INTO's other budget demands include a school-meals service for children in disadvantaged areas and a classroom assistant for every infant class.
