Organic sector examines ways to expand market

Organic farmers, producers, manufacturers and suppliers are meeting in Carrick-on-Shannon today to discuss ways to expand their share of the Irish market.

More than 200 delegates are expected to attend what is being billed as Ireland's first organic food conference.

Demand for organic produce is currently growing by around 20% annually in Ireland, but the organisers of today's event say the Irish organic sector is still lagging behind many other EU countries.
