Oireachtas inquiry into Judge Curtin delayed for a week

03/11/2006 - 14:12:30
The Oireachtas inquiry set up to investigate alleged misconduct by Judge Brian Curtin has been delayed by a week.

The hold up has been approved at the request of the Circuit Court judge's legal team in order to allow them more time to carry out their investigations.

The proceedings were due to get underway next Monday.

Judge Curtin's lawyers are understood to have been seeking a longer adjournment, but were only granted a week.

The Oireachtas committee conducting the inquiry was set up in 2004 after the judge was acquitted of possessing child pornography because the warrant used to search his home was out of date.
