Sky signs up 113,000 broadband customers

Pay television company BSkyB said today it has signed up 113,000 customers to its new broadband service but investment in the product meant pre-tax profits slipped 17%.

Revenues lifted 11% to £1.1bn (€1.6bn) in the three months to September 30 but profits fell to £166m (€247m) following the launch of broadband in July.

The satellite broadcaster said it added 82,000 net TV subscribers during the period – above City forecasts – and 74,000 broadband lines had been activated.
