India blames Pakistan for train bombings

25/10/2006 - 14:49:53
India’s prime minister says his government has evidence proving Pakistan’s spy agency planned the Mumbai train bombings in July that killed more than 200 people.

Manmohan Singh said yesterday: “All I can say is that there is credible evidence.”

Mumbai police commissioner A N Roy announced last month that a probe into the July bombings had revealed Pakistan’s role.

Pakistan has consistently denied any involvement and has asked India to furnish credible evidence to prove the charge.

Yesterday, India’s new External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India will share information with Pakistan regarding the Mumbai blasts.

“We will exchange information with Pakistan. After that we have to see how they react,” he said.

India and Pakistan are scheduled to resume official-level talks next month which India put on hold after the train bombings.
