O'Brien forced to wait with Compliance

25/10/2006 - 14:48:38
Promising second-season chaser In Compliance will not be seen in action at Naas this weekend.

Michael O’Brien had hoped to kick off the six-year-old’s campaign in the Grade Three Paddy Power Poplar Square Chase over two miles.

However, after In Compliance returned an unsatisfactory blood test earlier in the week, the County Kildare handler has been forced to put plans on hold for the time being.

“He’s not going to run as we got a bad blood test on him on Monday,” he said.

O’Brien’s gelding could be seen in action again soon, however, if the problem were to clear relatively quickly.

“If everything clears up he may run at Down Royal and we were hoping to run him in the Paddy Power (at Cheltenham on November 11), but if his blood doesn’t clear up he won’t be going anywhere,” he added.

“That was supposed to be his early plan so we’ve had to put that on hold and I’m not sure what will happen later on.”
