Mann hoping Miami proves hot stuff

25/10/2006 - 14:15:53
Progressive hurdler Moon Over Miami is set to return to the fray at Ascot on Saturday.

Charlie Mann’s gelding made a pleasing seasonal reappearance in a Listed race at Kempton, where he finished second to Self Respect – having raced too keenly in the first mile.

Moon Over Miami now has the choice of the bet365.com Novices’ Hurdle at Wetherby and the Brilliant By You! Novices’ Hurdle at Ascot – both over two miles – on the same day.

The five-year-old is likely to head to Ascot, however, before a possible crack at the Listed Anglo Irish Bank Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on November 10.

“He’s fine after his last race and he’ll probably go to Ascot,” confirmed Mann.

“He was too fresh at Kempton so I’d like to get another run into him.

“If he runs at Ascot I would probably then send him to Cheltenham, where he would go for a Listed race a fortnight on Friday.”

Formerly a useful Flat performer in Germany, Moon Over Miami landed back-to-back victories over timber in May before his comeback run at Kempton earlier this month.
