House-price slowdown continues
25/10/2006 - 11:38:09The recent spate of interest-rate increases by the European Central Bank's appear to be having an effect on the Irish housing market.
The latest house price index from the ESRI and Permanent TSB shows that price rises slowed for the fourth consecutive month in September.
However, average house prices have still increased by almost 11% this year and are currently around €30,000 higher than December 2005.
The average price paid for a house in Dublin last month was just under €420,000, compared to around €266,000 in the rest of the country.
