Heroin seizure may be worth €10m
Gardaí were today revising upwards the estimated value of a seizure of 30kg of heroin in an apartment in the Clondalkin area of Dublin towards €10m.
The gardaí seized the heroin during a raid last night on what they are describing as a drugs-mixing factory in the Clondalkin area of the city.
Detective Superintendent PJ Browne said arrests could be expected in the coming days.
“It’s a huge hit against gangland activity in the south city, south central area, and in the south city itself and we are following very, very good leads,” he said.
A Heckler and Koch sub-machine gun and thousands of rounds of ammunition were also recovered in the raid.
Cannabis worth €100,000 was also found, along with drug-mixing agents, weighing scales, cash and a machine gun with ammunition.
Gardaí say the apartment was empty when they raided it, but they believe it had been occupied up to a short time before detectives arrived.
