25/10/2006 - 18:07:56
Ten foreigners were arrested for fraud today after gardaí raided several homes in west Dublin.

A number of planned searches were carried out by officers from the Garda National Immigration Bureau as they moved to smash a forgery ring in the city.

During one raid on a house in Clonsilla, in the west of the capital, seven men and three women were detained. All 10 are non-Irish nationals.

A number of forged or doctored passports were recovered.

Gardaí said five men have appeared in court charged with theft and fraud offences.

The other two men and three women were released without charge.

Officers from the GNIB said investigations are ongoing.
