PDs say Taoiseach is backing ambitious Dublin Port plan
20/10/2006 - 14:05:52The Progressive Democrats plan to move Dublin Port to a new site near Balbriggan looks set to go ahead after receiving the backing of the Taoiseach.
PD leader Michael McDowell said today that Bertie Ahern had indicated his support for the ambitious project.
The plan envisages moving Dublin Port to Balbriggan and redeveloping the vacated site with high-rise housing and commercial structures accommodating more than 50,000 people.
The 20-year scheme also includes a new outer ring-road linking the new port site with the city.
