Bioverda planning biodiesal plant in Cork Harbour

A subsidiary of the company that operates most of Ireland's toll roads has announced plans to build a €50m biodiesel plant in Cork Harbour.

Bioverda Ltd, which is owned by National Toll Roads, says the facility will convert local and imported vegetable oils from rapeseed and other crops into high-quality biodiesel.

The eco-friendly fuel can be used as a direct substitute for regular diesel.

The Government recently outlined plans to introduce more biodiesel into the Irish market in order to reduce the country's dependence on imported oil.
