17/10/2006 - 22:20:47
David Beckham made his 100th Champions League appearance after coming on as a substitute in Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory over Steaua Bucharest in Group E.

The former England captain is only the third player to reach the milestone, behind team-mates Raul and Roberto Carlos.

Sergio Ramos’s eighth-minute header was followed by a goal for Raul in the 34th minute after Ruud van Nistelrooy’s shot was parried.

Robinho put the Spanish club further ahead before the hosts pulled one back through Valentin Badea.

Beckham then replaced Guti before former Manchester United team-mate Van Nistelrooy restored the three-goal lead with a lob – his 50th European Cup goal.

However, Lyon retained their 100% record and top spot in the group with a 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev.

Juninho Pernambucano opened the scoring with a 25-yard shot in the 30th minute, eight minutes later Kim Kallstrom extended the lead and Florent Malouda’s header sealed victory four minutes after half-time.

Manchester United stay top of Group F with a 3-0 victory over FC Copenhagen thanks to goals from Paul Scholes, John O’Shea and Kieran Richardson.

In the same group, Celtic comfortably beat Benfica 3-0 with two goals from Kenny Miller and one from Stephen Pearson to consolidate second place.

Arsenal lost top spot in Group G after Daniel Carvalho’s long-range strike consigned them to a 1-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow in Russia, although Thierry Henry had a late goal controversially ruled out for handball.

Lisandro Lopez scored twice as Porto claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory over Hamburg, with a Lucho Gonzalez penalty and goal from former Tottenham striker Helder Postiga completing their scoring before Piotr Trochowski netted a last-minute consolation.

Ten-man Milan consolidated top spot in Group H with a 1-0 victory over Anderlecht.

Kaka’s long-range shot put Milan ahead after Daniele Bonera had been dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Lille claimed a 3-1 win over AEK Athens with Mathieu Robail, Daniel Gygax and Jean Makoun scoring for the hosts and Vladimir Ivic hitting the visitors’ only goal.
