Good response to Meg Walsh killing reconstruction

17/10/2006 - 07:57:39
Gardaí in Waterford are upbeat this morning following "a good response" to the staging a reconstruction involving Meg Walsh's car, as part of their investigation into her murder.

The 35-year-old's body was found in the River Suir on Sunday following an intensive two-week search sparked when she failed to turn up for work on October 2.

Gardaí will only say she died from "severe trauma to the upper body", but reports this morning say the post mortem concluded she died of head injuries inflicted during a beating with an implement.

Yesterday evening, Gardaí investigating the case staged a reconstruction of the parking of her silver Mitsubishi Carisma at the Uluru car park in Ardkeen in the hope that it might jog the memory of anyone who saw the vehicle there between October 1 and October 4.

No motive has yet been established for Ms Walsh’s killing, while detectives are also still trying to establish where she was killed and find the weapon used to carry out the murder.

Her house has been sealed off as part of the investigation and Gardai say they are treating it as a crime scene.
