Noseda filly out to Rock
Jeremy Noseda is confident Rahiyah can make a seamless transition into Group Two company at Newmarket on Saturday.
The Rahy filly takes her chance in the “In The Pink” Rockfel Stakes having enjoyed the benefit of two solid performances at Goodwood.
Noseda’s charge finished second on her debut before going one better when winning at skinny odds over six furlongs in August.
Rahiyah steps up to seven furlongs for the first time in the Rockfel, won last year by subsequent 1000 Guineas heroine Speciosa.
“She ought to get seven furlongs,” reasoned Noseda.
“She is a filly with a bit of a quality about her.
“Granted she gets the trip, I’m hoping she can put up a good show.
“She has missed her last few engagements due to soft ground.
“But we will be racing on a fresh strip on Saturday and anyway, the ground should be good as the forecast is for dry weather,” the Shalfleet handler told www.jeremynoseda.com.
Rahiyah faces 13 rivals, including classy Longchamp winner Finsceal Beo.
Jim Bolger’s filly is the general second favourite for next year’s 1000 Guineas after her runaway success in the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac.
Bolger said: “She’s very well after Longchamp and she does have the Group One form.”
Kevin Manning again takes the ride on Finsceal Beo, who returns to seven furlongs after her sixth-placed finish behind Miss Beatrix in the Goffs Million on her penultimate start.
