Man arrested after siege at house in Dublin
13/10/2006 - 08:17:57Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man following a siege situation at a house in the north of the city last night.
The incident began at around 7pm when a man barricaded himself and three of his neighbours into a house on Castle Avenue in Clontarf.
The man, who claimed to have a gun and a grenade, was seen shortly beforehand wielding a large kitchen knife in the driveway of the house.
A trained negotiator was brought in and spent an hour talking to the man before he eventually agreed to give himself up.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, which follows a separate siege at a house in Gort, Co Galway, earlier this week.
